About the Event
** Please note that there is minimal paperwork involved. A majority of this must be sent via email (as an attachment) and through google docs. Therefore, having a basic working knowledge of email and google docs is helpful. If needed we will attempt to help etc.
Take Action Mon Valley (TAMV) recognizes the effect that trauma has on the work we do as well as the people we serve. Therefore, we are doing wellness groups for people who experience social justice issues and routinely detail with systematic racism/racial injustice. People will be compensated for their participation. Group sessions will occur in person and on-line via zoom etc. Sessions for group two start the last week of April or first/second week of May 2022.
TAMV Wellness Sessions Overview:
The first two initial groups will be on racial injustice and how to process the trauma that comes with this. After the first two sessions people can sign up for what best meets their needs. More specifically, there will be sessions for people who have experienced injustice with police violence, at school/educational system, criminal justice system, housing, jail/prisons and those who have lost loved ones due to racial injustice. In addition, there will be sessions for POC activists and youth. Majority of the sessions will be held virtually over zoom etc. The completion of initial paperwork such as intake, pre/post test, and session assessments/evaluations will be required. Participants will receive:
- $100 for every three sessions they attend.
- There will be an option for participants to receive individual mental health counseling ( if requested).
- TAMV will pay for the initial 3-5 mental health therapy sessions.
