Black Lives Matter Grassroots

TAAG is a Black liberation organization that focuses on serving people of the global majority. This consists of individuals living in small communities worldwide. Specifically, non-white people of African, Asian, Latin American, and Arab heritage, who make up roughly 85 percent of the global population. Occasionally, our services may also reach out to other marginalized groups, including women, people experiencing poverty, individuals with disabilities, and veterans, depending on the specific program. We center those who suffer social injustices and support their lifelong journey to find liberation mentally, physically, and spiritually. We have a strong focus on organizing in small communities where racism and other forms of discrimination are far too common.

TAAG is proud to announce that we have joined Black Lives Matter Grassroots (BLMGR). Our adult and youth chapters will now be known as Black Lives Matter Grassroots-Mon Valley BLM Grassroots = Black Lives Matter. BLMGR is separate from Black Lives Matter and are powered by the PEOPLE.

Their history starts on July 13, 2013, when the white supremacist terrorist who took the life of 17-year-old #TrayvonMartin, was acquitted. The verdict ignited an eruption of grief and fury across the Black world. The deep, collective pain felt by Black people, who live every day in a world rooted in white supremacist violence, drove them into the streets. This gave birth to Black Lives Matter, not just as a moment, but as a movement. Under the banner of BLM Grassroots (BLMGR), over 50 active chapters have been at the forefront, organizing on the ground to transform local communities and the world at large. TAAG is proud to join this movement.
